Program Sequence
Arrival at Marrakech or Ouarzazate airport, transfer to the hotel. Depending on the arrival time, there is the opportunity for a private city tour.
The journey from Ouarzazate to Zagora leads through the gorges and over the mountains of the Anti-Atlas foothills into the Draa Valley. Along the palm-fringed river course, we drive through the desert town of Zagora to M’hamid, where the road ends. In a nomad camp at the end of the Draa Valley we get to know our nomad companions around the campfire over tea. Overnight in nomad tents or in the open air.
The first hike takes place in the gentle rhythm of the desert. Running or riding on a dromedary. We move away from the edge of the desert and its palms and tamarisks, the characteristic trees of this desert area, and walk through an area of smaller dunes. After the lunch break we continue hiking to the night place. The camp is set up, the fire is stoked, the food is prepared. At the fire, the caravan leader talks about the nomadic culture, or music is played.
Crossing the dry, stony river bed of the Drâa – once the longest water-bearing river in Morocco, a dune area with small tamarisk groves. There is one of the sacred places for the nomads. We spend the lunch breaks in small oases. The night camps in the dunes.
After breaking our last night’s camp between the big dunes of Nbak Elaoud, we hike towards the oasis of Ouled Driss where, after lunch, the cars await us and take us to Zagora. We wash off the desert sand with a visit to the hammam. Overnight stay in a 3 star hotel with pool.
On the way to Ouarzazate there is the opportunity to visit the most beautiful ksour or kasbah with their extraordinary adobe architecture. In the afternoon we reach Ouarzazate, where you still have the opportunity to go shopping in the city.
Return flight transfer to the airport.
